Chairman of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government-in-exile Irakli Alasania, who is also the Georgian President’s representative at the Abkhaz peace talks, will brief the UN Security Council on May 4 over the Abkhaz conflict peace process.

Irakli Alasania, who has been in the United States since May 1, has already held talks with representatives of the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Department of State.

“During the talks in Washington, on the eve of President Bush’s visit to Georgia, an increased interest by the United States in a peaceful resolution of the conflict was especially emphasized,” Spokesperson for the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government Irakli Tabliashvili told Civil Georgia on May 4.
