Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is willing to meet with Sergei Bagapsh, leader of the Georgian breakaway region of Abkhazia, if such a meeting takes place on Georgian territory, Georgian Foreign Minister Salome Zourabichvili said on Wednesday.

Zourabichvili told a briefing the venue for such a meeting had not yet been chosen.

Earlier, Bagapsh, who is president of the breakaway republic of Abkhazia, said at a meeting with members of an Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe mission to Georgia that Abkhazia was willing to discuss economic matters with Georgia but that the region's political status could not be an issue.
