UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Georgia Heidi Tagliavini met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Valerie Loshchinin in Moscow on March 16, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

The sides discussed the issues of resumption of Georgian-Abkhaz talks ahead of the Geneva meeting scheduled for April with the participation of the UN Secretary General’s Group of Friends for Georgia, involving representatives from France, Germany, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and the United States.

The latest meeting of this kind was held last December; however neither the Georgian nor Abkhaz delegations participated in the talks, due to the political crisis in the breakaway region.
