Abkhazia Fears Georgian Integration Within NATO

The authorities of Abkhazia fear that Georgia will attract foreign armed forces to its territory
The authorities of Abkhazia (self-proclaimed republic in Georgia's territory) fear that Georgia will attract foreign armed forces to its territory, Abkhaz Security Council secretary Stanislav Lakoba told RIA Novosti in the exclusive interview.

"Nobody can guarantee that Georgia will not attract others' armed forces to fill the military bases in case the Russian military go", Mr. Lakoba said.

The plain evidence of it is the agreement on the transit of NATO troops through Georgia, he said.

"There is a logical connection between the agreement signed and the intention of the Georgian parliament to decide on an early liquidation of the Russian military bases", Mr. Lakoba stressed.

He does not rule out escalation of tensions between Abkhazia and Georgia.
