Crimean Tatars: The Expanded Session of the Mejlis Has Taken Place in Bakhchisaray


On February, 19 took place the regular 133-rd expanded session of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people with participation of the regional and local national self-management bodies of the Crimean Tatars

On February, 19 in Bakhchisaray in the building of the Bakhchsaray regional council regular 133-rd expanded session of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people with participation of the regional and local national self-management bodies of the Crimean Tatars, deputies of the ARC VR from among of the Crimean Tatars, representatives of the Crimean Tatar public organizations, Spiritual management of the Crimean Moslems and national Crimean Tatar mass-media and TV. The total amount of people taken part in the session of the Mejlis has made about 120 persons.

In connection with a probable meeting with the President of Ukraine within the framework of its preparation there have been discussed basic questions, which are very actual for the Crimean Tatar people in the nearest future. As a result of discussion of statement of the vice-president of the Mejlis Remzi Ilyasov there was accepted a decision on preparation of 12 basic questions, among which: initiation of passing by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the law «About restoration of the rights of the people deported according to a national attribute» and acceleration of carrying out of the parliamentary majority fractions' consultations on registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the bill «About the status of the Crimean Tatar people in Ukraine»; about infringements of the civil rights of the Crimean Tatars from the part of administrative and law enforcement bodies of Crimea; Initiation of modification in Constitution of the ARC, connected to functioning of the Crimean Tatar language in all territory of the peninsula Crimea as a state language, formation of bodies of republican authority and maintenance of adequate representation of the Crimean Tatars in all bodies of the republican authority, guaranteeing protection of interests of the Crimean Tatar people; the organization of activity and interaction with the President of Ukraine; a ground problem; restoration of toponymics; the economic block of questions among which it is recommended to provide participation of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people in development of the State program of arrangement and social-cultural development of deported people for 2006 - 2010 years; opening of schools with the Crimean Tatar language of training; creation of a separate channel on the Crimean Tatar language on base of the State TV Republican Company "Krim"; a personnel question. The Mejlis has ratified the Working group on preparation of necessary materials till February, 26 consisting of Remzi Ilyasov and Nadir Bekirov, and has charged members of the Mejlis to submit the offers till February, 23.

For about three hours the attention was given to discussion of the second question of the agenda about social-political situation in Crimea. As a result of discussion of a political situation developed now in Crimea after the presidential elections of Ukraine, in a mode of a roll-call vote the Mejlis has passed decision: «To recommend members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people not to participate in public actions together with other political forces of the autonomy without decision of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people or its Presidium».

Summing up the past presidential elections of Ukraine in Crimea, in connection with the insufficiently accomplished work of some regions, despite insignificant influence of their parameters on parameters of voting of the Crimean Tatars as a whole across Crimea, the Mejlis has made the decision on carrying out of report-back-election conferences of the regional mejlises and assemblies of the local mejlises in Belogorsk, Sevastopol and Yevpatoriya regions within three months.
One of the agenda's questions was discussion of offers on personnel assignments of experts-professionals from among of the Crimean Tatars for working in bodies of the government.

At the session it was also passed the decision of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people "About discrimination of the Crimean Tatars in the right to the ground and measures on protection of legal requirements of landless Crimean Tatars".
Vice-president of the Mejlis Remzi Ilyasov has reported on accomplishment of decision of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people from May, 9, 2004 ?127 «About carrying out of the Crimean action «Yeshil Ada» - "Green Peninsula". The Mejlis has ratified a personal structure of the Working group at the end of carrying out of the action «Yeshil Ada» and has obliged the regional mejlises to finish the action until April, 1, 2005.
