UNPO Attends Liberal International Human Rights Committee Meeting in The Hague, Netherlands


On the 29th and 30th November 2017, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) was called as special guest to the Liberal International Human Rights Committee meeting in The Hague, Netherlands. During the HRC meeting entitled “Global Justice and the Rule of Law: The Future of the International Liberal Order”, the LI price for Freedom was awarded to Mr Ilham Tohti, the renowned Uyghur human rights activist and professor, who is currently wrongfully imprisoned by Chinese authorities. The UNPO together with the Ilham Tohti Initiative accepted the price on behalf of Mr Tohti, while Mr Markus Löning, the chair of LI Human Rights Committee, presented a speech. During their visit in The Hague, the UNPO also paid a visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC), where they had the opportunity to meet with the President of the ICC, Judge Silvia Fernández De Gurmendi.
