Eastern Turkestan: World Uyghur Congress Speech at UN Forum on Minority Issues Disrupted By China

An attempt by the World Uyghur Congress (WUC) to make a statement at the UN Forum on Minority Issues was quickly interrupted by representatives of the People’s Republic of China. The representatives tried to block the WUC’s statement by calling into question the right of the organisation to speak at the event. While representatives of Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Cuba, Venezuela and Bolivia supported and extended China’s interruption, Finland, Switzerland, Ireland and Austria came to the defense of the WUC and urged the president of the forum to allow the organisation to speak freely.
