Gagauzia: "We Will Not Pretend to Any Participation in the Negotiation Process with Transdniestria

We will not pretend to any participation in the negotiation process with Transdniestria or membership in the Joint Commission for the elaboration of the future Constitution
“We will not pretend to any participation in the negotiation process with Transdniestria or membership in the Joint Commission for the elaboration of the future Constitution”, Gheorghe Tabunscic, Bashkan of Gagauzia, said at the meeting with Pamela Hyde Smith, US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Bashkan of Gagauzia, there has been no problem with the Autonomy status as such since July 25 this year. The establishment of the status in the RM Constitution makes it possible for the region to develop to the fullest degree in all aspects of political, economic and social life. Besides, “Gagauzia is already the subject of the Federation”, whereas the new Constitution of the future unified state “will just prove the existence of the Autonomy”.

17 deputies of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, to be reminded, have appealed recently to the participants of the Transdniestrian settlement process with a letter. In their appeal, they proposed that Gagauz-Yeri representatives be included in the Joint Constitutional Commission for the elaboration of the new Constitution.
