Balochistan: Government Claims Region Will get Fair Share from CPEC Investments
Recent plans surrounding the China Pakistan Economic Corridor has put Balochistan on the priority list of the Pakistani Government. While the authorities claim that 7 bn USD will be invested in the region in relation to the CPEC, it remains to be seen whether this will actually benefit the local population

Balochistan will be receiving over $7 billion in funds of its share from investment related to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the president of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industries (QCCI), Jamal Khan Tarakai, said on Sunday. Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattha has assured the industrialists and traders that Balochistan would get adequate share from investment funds to be spent under CPEC. “Industrialist parks will be established in Zhob, Quetta, Khuzdar, Gwadar and other areas of Balochistan where over $07 billion will be spent to build power plants and heavy industrial units which would generate millions of jobs for the local youth,” he added.
