Mapuche: Survivors Challenge Chilean Torture Ship's Inclusion in Competition
The Esmerelda, a Chilean ship allegedly used as a prison and a location of torture during the 1970s Pinochet regime, was controversially included in a tall ship sailing event this week. Survivors of torture on the ship were understandably angry at the inclusion of the vessel; they protested the event with blood-stained Chilean flags and banners.
