UNPO's XII General Assembly Adopts Southern Mongolia Resolution


 

On 3 July 2015, representatives from the Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center (SMHRIC) presented this resolution to the UNPO’s XII General Assembly, calling for increased pressure to be put on the Chinese government by human rights organizations to end their oppression of Southern Mongolian people, particularly with regards to the destruction of their traditional nomadic modes of life. The UNPO has adopted the resolution, and henceforth will seek to further these aims.

 

We, the UNPO General Assembly,

 

Call upon the EU and UN human rights bodies to work with us to send a fact finding mission to Southern Mongolia to carry out a through investigation of human rights violations in Southern Mongolia;

Affirm that it is important that pressure be put on the Chinese government to end the state-sponsored eradication of the traditional Mongolian pastoral way of life;

Urge the EU to put pressure on the Chinese government to return all displaced herders to their lands;

Seek to work with EU and UN to free all political prisoners in Southern Mongolia including Mr.Hada, his family members, Ms.Huuchinhuu and Mr.Batzangaa.
