‘Gaining Access and Preparing an Advocacy Strategy’ workshop in Geneva, 24-25 September 2015

This workshop is the first of three in the project "Training diplomats from unrepresented nations: capacity building for effective UN lobbying", funded by the University of Oxford’s ESRC Impact Acceleration Account, 2015-2016 and run by Prof. Fiona McConnell of the University of Oxford, Iona Liddell of Tibet Justice Center, and Johanna Green and Tommaso Nodari of UNPO.

The workshop will bring together experts in UN advocacy and participants from unrepresented nations, in order to facilitate knowledge exchange between participants, and strengthen advocacy at the UN. The workshop will cover the following topics: access to ECOSOC status; building allies and alliances; navigating and targeting UN specific mechanisms. Participants will be encouraged to create concrete ‘asks’ and recommendations, identify targets within the UN mechanisms, prepare briefing materials and develop media/social media strategies.

There are a limited number of places and applications closed on 16 August 2015.

There is no fee to participate the conference, and there are a few scholarships available to cover the transport and expenses of some attendees - if you are interested in these, simply tick the relevant box on the application form.

For more details on the workshop, see the training programme leaflet here or visit the programme's own website here.

Applications are now closed. We will notify all the applicants about the outcome of their application as soon as possible.
