Newsletter October 2014
Dear UNPO members and friends,
The month of October held several major events relating to our members and the rights of indigenous people worldwide. UNPO was present in Amsterdam for the beautiful and sombering 522 Years of Indigenous Resistance, an event set on the date that Columbus landed in the Americas, that lifted the negative aspects of this historical landmark. We represented UNPO at the Arctic Indigenous Peoples Dialogue at the European Commission in Brussels, and represented the Assyrian people at the UN pre-session on Iraq in Geneva. On November 4 UNPO together with MEP Frank Engel organized a two-hour conference at the European Parliament with experts, discussing the 2014 presidential elections in Abkhazia.
