Chittagong Hill Tracts needs responsible leadership for development
Speakers at a seminar Wednesday stressed the need for creating responsible
leadership in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) through imparting quality education.
Organised by the CARE Bangladesh, the seminar on "CHT Children Opportunity
for Basic Education" was addressed by Deputy Minister for the CHT Moni
Swapon Dewan, Country Director of CARE Bangladesh Steve Wallac, Beth Page
from the USAID and a couple of tribal people.
In his speech, Dewan stressed the need for developing responsible leadership
for overall development of the CHT.
Appreciating the role of CARE Bangladesh, he said the organisation filled
the gap with life-oriented innovative education programme in many remote parts
of the CHT that has remained outside pale of government's education programmes.
While highlighting the CARE's education programme, Steve said it is a new
programme in the education sector and totally different from other traditional
activities of the organisation.
