The Committee reviewed the financial position of the UNPO, the prospects for 2005, and decided for a General Assembly to be convened in The Hague within the next six months. A task force was appointed to review a series of points identified by the General Secretariat on how to make the running of the organization more effective.

The task force is to examine some areas of the Covenant where change is needed, to operate in the current context, so that these can be discussed with members in the months prior to the General Assembly. Among some of the major issues, members discussed the situation in Northern Iraq, the relationship between various UNPO members in that region and the possibility to do something towards the upcoming elections. Members were happy to hear that despite the increased workload due to his appointment to the Taiwan National Security Council, Senator Parris Chang would continue to serve in his capacity of President of the Committee until the forthcoming General Assembly.

The UNPO is pleased to announce that six new members have been admitted to the Organization: the Oromo, Southern Cameroons, Buffalo River Dene Nation, Maasai, Nahuas del Alto Balsas and Somaliland. The UNPO welcomes these new members and looks forward to their active role within the Organization.
