Ogaden: Civilians Executed By Ethiopian Paramilitary Forces


Sources cite that three Ogaden people have been executed by the Ethiopian Paramilitary forces in Godey Zone, Ethiopia. Ethiopian Paramilitary Forces are regularly accused of human right abuses in Ogaden Region but Ethiopia denies the accusations.

Ethiopian Paramilitary forces in Ogaden have executed three civilians in Godey Zone in Eastern Part of Ethiopia, volatile region of Ogaden bordering with Somalia.

According to locals in Godey, 6 civilians have been arrested by the Paramilitary forces in Godey's village of Hadhawe, the detainees were taken to Godey town and three of them are found executed by the Paramilitary forces, a reliable NGO staff in Godey confirmed Ogadentoday Press.

These men were businessmen, they had a shop and Pharmacy in Hadhawe Village near Godey. The Paramilitary forces accused them that they are supporter of ONLF, the source added.

In the last week, 30 of civilians are arrested in the area, unconfirmed source in the area informed the NGO staff.

Locals are arrested, targeted and killed as supporters of ONLF, Ogaden National Liberation Front.

Ethiopian Paramilitary Forces have long been accused of human right abuses in Ogaden Region but Ethiopia denies the accusations.

Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen and his delegation have visited recently the area for investment.

Since 2005, Ethiopia government isolated Ogaden region from the World, Ethiopia imposed a ban all international aid and media organizations in Ogaden despite some are operating under the permit of intelligence surveillances.

Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) fighting for the self-determination of Ogaden Region in Ethiopia since 1994.
