UNPO leaders convene in The Hague


From 17 to 19 of December the UNPO Steering Committee Members gather in The Hague with nations and peoples representatives

On Friday 17 December the UNPO Steering Committee gathers in The Hague. In addition, a number of current and future UNPO members will be present. The session will be opened by UNPO Steering Committee President Sen. Parris Chang, vice president of the Taiwan National Security Council.

Members of the Steering Committee are representatives of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Circassia, Eastern Turkestan, Greek Minority in Albania, Iraqi Turkoman, Lakota Nation, Mari, Nagalim, Ogoni, South Moluccas, Taiwan and Tibet

Moreover, representatives of the following nations and peoples will be attending: Ahwazi, Assyria, Hungarians in Romania, Cabinda, Chin, Crimean Tatars, Kampuchea Khmer Krom, Scania and West Papua.

Membership applications from the following nations and peoples will be presented at the meeting: Somaliland, Southern Cameroon, Maasai, Oromo, Buffalo River Dene Nation, Nahua del Alto Balsas, Kanglei (Manipur), Hynniewtrep.

The meeting will also be an occasion to conclude on the activities of 2004, to outline plans for 2005 and to prepare the next General Assembly, which will gather more than 60 unrepresented nations and peoples in The Hague.

The Steering Committee is the governing body in between the General Assembly meetings and currently consists of 12 members. The meeting of this weekend will end Sunday.
