Nagalim: ACAUT And Naga Civilians Join Against Illegal Taxations

The Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has called a meeting of civil society and public organizations in Dimapur to discuss illegal and excessive taxation on Naga communities.

In a press release, ACAUT secretary Solomon L. Awomi reminded all civil society and frontal organizations: Naga Council, Dimapur (NCD); Naga Women Hoho, Dimapur (NWHD); Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI); East Dimapur Business Association  (EDBA), Chumukedima Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CCCI); Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), GBs Union (Sardar); Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF); Dimapur District Consumer Society (DDCS); Senior/concern Citizens’ Forum; all office bearers of tribal hohos, Dimapur and ACAUT members to attend the meeting.

ACAUT secretary also lauded Dimapur district administration and police for apprehending two ‘tax collectors’ of illegal syndicates and dealerships stating that civil society initiative against unabated taxation could not succeed without the help of police and the government.

Four organizations in Diphupar area have extended support to Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT). In a press release, Diphupar Village Council (DVC) chairman I. Vitoshe Kinimi and Diphupar Naga Youth Organization (DNYO) president Zuchamo Mozhui said DVC, DNYO along with Diphupar Naga Students’ Union and Diphupar Naga Women’s Organisation expressed their “solitary and full co-operation” with the initiative for the common cause of the society.

The signatories opined that ACAUT’s initiative would provide a better future for the young and future generation and requested all other Naga civil society from Naga inhabited areas, to unhesitatingly lend their voice against “excess/different taxation”.

It said these were just “looting our own economy” and also sowing disunity among Nagas. “Therefore we support ‘one tax one nation’, they added.

Konyak Union (KU) has extended support to Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Dimapur on their stand on “illegal taxations”.

In a statement, KU president Manlip  and general secretary Hosea said it was totally against the present taxation system in the society.

In this regard, the K.U has called upon ACAUT and all other Naga civil societies to join hands and fight against illegal taxations.


KU further stated ACAUT move should not in any way be allowed to be derailed or hijacked by any “frightened spirit” but be accepted as a great challenge for every individual or NGOs to minimize or stop all type of illegal taxation immediately.
