Is the European Union against Democracy in China?

UNPO General Secretary Statement on lifting China arms embargo

Statement from the UNPO General Secretary Marino Busdachin:

"Recent statements released from the President of the Italian Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and the Italian Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini go against any possible development of democracy in China and neglect the human rights situation for 1.3 billion people living in China, East Turkestan, Inner Mongolia and Tibet.

The lifting of the EU embargo on arms sales to China will, moreover, endanger the existence of Taiwan as a leading democratic country in the region.

With these acts and statements the European Union effectively plays the role of an accomplice of Chinese communist authorities rather than a promoter of democracy in Asia and around the world"
