Crimean Tatars: Protests Against Repression To Be Held In European Capitals


Peaceful protests will be held in front of Ukrainian embassies in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium on Saturday 18 May 2013 in support of the struggles of Crimean Tatars against pressures from the pro-Russian Crimean government of Mogilev.

For the 69th anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Tatar on May 18, 1944, protests will be held in front of Ukrainian embassies in The Hague, Berlin, Paris and Brussels at 12:00 local time.

While the Tatars who have returned to their homeland in Crimea after the collapse of the Soviet Union are striving "to make the motherland a motherland again," they are struggling against pressures from the pro-Russian Crimean government of Mogilev.

The administration seeks to take away their right to conduct their annual May 18 Exile Mourning Rally.

Protests will be held in front of Ukrainian embassies in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium on Saturday May 18 in support of their struggles.
