Sindh: EU Election Observation Mission Meets Sindh CS

On Tuesday 23 April 2013, a six-member delegation of the European Union Election Observers' Mission (EU EOM) met with Sindh Chief Secretary Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry, who ensured the upcoming elections will be held in an honest and impartial manner.

The Sindh CS welcomed the delegation led by Michael Gahler, and assured of every facility.

He told the delegation that the Governor, the Caretaker Chief Minister and the provincial administration would perform the duty in an honest and impartial manner for the conduct of free, fair, transparent and peaceful general elections.

The Chief Secretary further informed that for the administration all the candidates are important whether they represent any political party or are participating as independent candidates.

He said that the code of conduct of the Election Commission would be 100 percent implemented and that the provincial administration has been asked to convene a meeting gathering all candidates and secure their written commitment to abide by the code of conduct.

Chief Secretary Chaudhry said that a meeting of the leaders of political parties would also be convened and strategy will be devised for the holding of the polls in a peaceful environment.

Effective security steps are being taken including the monitoring of the polling stations, he further said.
