Crimean Tatars: New Mustafa Dzhemilev Documentary To Air On Turkish TV


Turkish TV station TRT will air the first episode of the 9 part documentary “Son of Crimea… Struggle of One Nation” at 9 p.m. tomorrow (4 April 2013).

Long-awaited documentary “Son of Crimea… Struggle of One Nation” will go on the air of the Turkish TRT Channel on April 4 [2013] at 9 p.m. It will be recollected that TRT known directors from Zafer and Neşe Sarısoy Karatays are filmmakers of this documentary.

 

The documentary “Son of Crimea… Struggle of One Nation” narrates the 1944 Deportation of the Crimean Tatar nation, non-violent struggle of the people for return to the Motherland – Crimea as well as about the course of life of the human rights activist, political prisoner and now the Chairman of the Majlis of Crimean Tatar nation, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mustafa Cemil.

 

According to Zafer Karatay, the timing of this film is 270 minutes. It consists of 9 episodes, each of which is 30 minutes. Work over the documentary: preparation of the scenario, shooting, search in archives, etc lasted 2.5 years.

 

The first episode of the film narrates about how Mustafa Cemil being the child, together with his nation is undergone forced Deportation on May 18, 1944. Mustafa miraculously survived during the deadly way that lasted 22 days and 22 nights, at the time, when many Crimean Tatar men fought with the Soviet Army against the Nazis to liberate the Motherland.
