Balochistan: Government Restoration To Be Opposed


Various political, Islamic and nationalist parties, including the Balochistan National Party, met in Quetta on the 30th of January and decided to oppose the restoration of the former provincial government of Balochistan.

A meeting of various political, Islamic and nationalist parties headed by Jamat e Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaquat Baloch was held in Quetta on Wednesday [30January2013].

All the parties decided to oppose any mover aimed at restoring former provincial government of Balochistan and demanded for accountability of provincial ministers.

According to details, the leaders of Pashtoonkhuah Milli Awami Party (PMAP), Balochistan National Party (BNP), Jamiat Ulma e Islam-Nazaryati (JUI-(N), Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulma e Pakistan (JUI-P) attended the meeting where they condemned sectarian violence and targeted killing in Balochistan.

The meeting also called for accountability of former provincial ministers and recovering looted money. They agreed that every conspiracy to postpone elections would be foiled.

They also demanded that voters lists in Karachi be compiled in the supervision of the army as par the Supreme Court orders, while all the political parties outside the parliament be taken on board regarding caretaker setup before the general elections.
