Somaliland: Ethiopia Receives President


Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, has welcomed President Siilanyo to Ethiopia for discussions to strengthen security and co-operation between the two countries, in a move which further recognizes Somaliland’s role in the Horn of Africa.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi received the President of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud "Siilanyo" and his delegation on Tuesday, February, 7th. 2012.

Prime Minister Zenawi welcomed the Somaliland delegation to Ethiopia and proceeded to discuss areas of mutual interest including security, commerce and education between Somaliland and Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Zenawi and President Siillanyo also discussed strengthening security co-operation between two countries in order to combat terrorism and other extremists currently operating in the region.

The two leaders also expressed their satisfaction at the current state of the relationship between the two countries, and pledged to maintain close ties between the peoples and governments of Ethiopia and Somaliland.

President Siilanyo was accompanied at this meeting with Prime Minister Zenawi by the Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohamed Abdillahi Omar, Home Affairs Minister, Mohamed Nur Arraleh "Duur", the President's principal private secretary Ali Ahmed Ali, both the Somaliland representative to Ethiopia and his deputy, Aden Nuh Dhule and Ayanle Salad Dirie. Also present was the minister for the presidency Hersi Ali Hassan.
