Joint NGO contribution on the Universal Periodic Review
UNPO staff member Maggie Murphy travelled to Geneva to represent UNPO in a meeting for all NGOs who provide significant input into the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process.
As a result UNPO is one of the 37 signatories of the following guideline text which was orally presented at a recent Human Rights Council meeting. An important goal of the UPR is to assess the evolution of human rights situations in a consistent and credible manner and UNPO has contributed several times a year on behalf of their Members since the initiative was adopted in 2006. The UPR approaches the end of its first cycle and this document will be significant in its inaugural review.
