Mary Robinson resigns

The UNPO regrets to learn that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, has decided not to seek another term when her appointment ends this coming September. Mrs. Robinson will be remembered for her courage to stand up for what is right, and her determination to point out what is wrong according to the principles of international human rights law, even when this has led to strong criticism from powerful states.
The UNPO extends its best wishes to Mrs. Robinson.
