Below is an article published by Dawn.com:

According to an official notification issued here on Friday, DCOs will replace district and city Nazims while Tehsil officers would take over as administrators in Tehsil and union councils.

The Balochistan government was the first to suggest to the federal government to abolish the local bodies’ system introduced by former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf and restore the magistracy system.

Three other provinces have already appointed commissioners in place of Nazims. The Balochistan government had passed the local bodies’ amendment bill in January, but because of differences with the coalition partner JUI-F over appointment of administrators, LB institutions could not dissolved.

The JUI-F was of the view that government officials should not be appointed as administrators. Other coalition partners opposed the JUI-F proposal and demanded that administrators’ powers should be given to DCOs.

The notification said that administrators would also function as DCOs in their respective districts.
