The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is planning to recommend the Kurultai (the National Congress) of the Crimean Tatar people which will be held in Simferopol on September 10-12, to support Viktor Yushchenko at the presidential elections. Such decision was adopted at the Mejlis session on July 17.

As the Mejlis Chairman Mustafa Jemilev stressed, the decision to support any candidate for presidency may be adopted only by the Kurultai. “The Mejlis found it advisable to support the leader of Our Ukraine bloc Viktor Yushchenko, and we will make this proposition at the Kurultai,” said M.Jemilev.

At the Mejlis session, the working group headed by Deputy Mejlis Chairman Remzi Ilyasov was created to organize and conduct the Kurultai session. The main issue in Kurultai agenda will be the attitude of the Crimean Tatar people towards upcoming presidential elections. Kurultai session will also discuss membership-related questions. The Mejlis Chairman Mustafa Jemilev will address the Kurultai with report called “State of the nation.”
